Overview

This tutorial will show you how to create the different types of questions in Respondus.

Step 1

Open Respondus, select Open to open your questions, and then select the Edit tab at the top of the window.

Step 2

Select Multiple Choice in the pane on the left. Type your question in the Question Wording window and type the possible answers in the Answers rectangles. Be sure to select the correct answer and change the Point Value. Save the question by selecting Add to End of List or Insert into List to choose the location of the question.

Step 3

Select True-False in the pane on the left. Type your question in the Question Wording window and select the correct answer. Type in feedback if you would like. Be sure to change the Point Value. To save the question, select Add to End of List or Insert into List.

Step 4

Select Essay Question in the pane on the left. Type your question in the Question Wording window and feedback into the feedback text box. Be sure to change the Point Value. Select Add to End of List or Insert into List to save the question.

Step 5

Select Matching in the pane on the left. Type your question in the Question Wording window. Select the question mark icon to read about the two different ways to insert matching pairs. Be sure to change the Point Value and select Add to End of List or Insert into List to save the question.

Step 6

Select Fill in the Blank in the pane on the left. Type your question in the Question Wording box, type in all the acceptable answers in the second window, and change the Point Value. Select Add to End of List or Insert into List to save the question.

Step 7

Select Multiple Answers in the pane on the left. Type your question in the Question Wording window and enter the possible answers in the answers box. Type an X in the far-left column next to the correct answers. Change the Point Value. Save the question by selecting Add to End of List or Insert into List.

Step 8

Select Fill in Multiple Blanks in the pane on the left. Type in the question. Put the words you want your students to supply in brackets. To allow multiple answers for a single blank, separate the options with a comma within the brackets. Change the point value and then select Add to End of List or Insert into List to save the question.

Step 9

Select Text (no question) in the pane on the left. This type of question isn’t actually a question; its purpose is more along the lines of providing a section header. Type in the wording and then select Add to End of List or Insert into List to save the section header.

Step 10

Select Numerical Answer in the pane on the left. Type in the question, and then enter the answer and error margin below it. Be sure to change the Point Value and select Add to End of List or Insert into List to save the question.
