To be considered a Utah resident for tuition purposes an individual must be a United States citizen or permanent resident and satisfy at least one of seven conditions. Non-resident SUU students interested in qualifying as a Utah Resident typically meet one of the following three conditions:

  1. Live in Utah for twelve (12) or more continuous months immediately preceding the term for which you are applying without leaving Utah for thirty (30) or more days.
  2. Earn sixty (60) credit hours from Utah colleges or universities while maintaining continuous residency (excluding summers) immediately preceding the term for which you are applying.
  3. Marry a Utah resident and submit a marriage certificate and documentation that confirms your spouse is a Utah resident.

There are four other conditions that a student could seek to meet and can be reviewed on the Admission's Office residency website.

Meeting each of these conditions will require students to apply for residency and support their application with documentation that demonstrates/proves they meet the condition.
