There are several sources of information that the University relies on to learn about student misconduct. The most common source is the University Police Department. For any incident on campus, the University Police are the primary responders and, therefore, generate reports which are shared with the student conduct staff. The University Police also work with local law enforcement agencies and receive reports from them regarding criminal activity in the Cedar City and Iron County community.

The other common source of information is from University employees who observe student misconduct occurring. They share their observations with the student conduct staff.

Occasionally, a student will report that they have been impacted by another student's actions that constitute a violation of policy.
