The University maintains a Disability Support Center directed by Carmen Alldredge. The Center's staff is dedicated to working with students who have documented disabilities. It is important for you to provide documentation about your disability so Carmen and others can find the most suitable accommodation for you. Your meetings and conversations with Carmen are confidential so you can feel comfortable discussing and disclosing private information.

Carmen also works with students to develop effective self-advocacy skills. Unlike the primary and secondary school system where institutions direct the development of an Individualized Education Program (IEP), in college, the student assumes the responsibility to request assistance from the University and their professors. Every professor will include a written statement in their syllabi encouraging students to seek assistance if needed. Carmen also works with professors to inform them about how to work with students who have disabilities so students feel comfortable and confident in class.

To reach Carmen or her staff, please call 435-865-8022.
