This tutorial will show you how to create a recording of your screen using the My Media tool. If you are new to using the My Media tool, please read the Guide to the My Media and Media Gallery Tools [Faculty/Student] before proceeding.
Once you have finished creating a screen recording, go to https://help.suu.edu/article/1968/uploading-and-embedding-media-into-canvas for instructions on embedding media from My Media into your course.
Step 1
Log in to your Canvas account and then select the My Media tool in the navigation pane on the left.
Step 2
Select Add New and then select Screen Recording.
Step 3
You will be taken to a page with the Launch the screen recorder button. If you cannot select the button, look to see if you have received any prompts from Java. Allow Java to run. You may need to close and reopen the Screen Recorder window after you allow Java to run if you still can't select Launch the screen recorder.
Select Launch the screen recorder.
A Java window will open asking you if you want to run the application. Select Run.
Step 4
Review the following image to learn how to set up the recording. Then select the red circle to start recording.
Step 5
Select pause to temporarily stop the recording. Select restart to start the recording over. Select Done to stop recording and save it.
Step 6
Type in a title and then select Upload.
Step 7
Select Close to exit the window once the video has uploaded.
Step 8
Fill out the details and then select Save.
Step 9
Go back up to the privacy settings and select Published. Choose the courses in which you want to use the video and then select Save.
Select either Go To Media to view the video or Go To My Media to view all of your videos.
