Overview

This tutorial will show you how to use the My Media tool to add quiz questions to a video and make the video a graded assignment.

Step 1

Open the course in which you want to create the quiz. Select My Media in the pane on the left.

Select the blue Add New button and then select Video Quiz.

Scroll through the videos to find the video to which you want to add quiz questions and select the blue Select button.

In the pane on the right, type in a name for the quiz and a welcome message for your students. To include the in-video tip and allow students to view the questions list before viewing the video, leave the two bottom options selected.

In-Video Tip tells the students that all the questions must be answered and will be submitted at the end of the video.

Question List allows students to download the quiz question list beore they start playing the media.

Step 5

Play the video by selecting the play button in the bottom left corner or drag the cursor to the point where you would like to add a question. Select the blue + button that appears in the middle of the player. You have to click on the video (where you want the quiz question to appear) in order for the blue + to appear or hit pause on the video.

Step 6

1) Type the question in the top box.

2) Next, type the correct answer into the green box.

3) Next, type the other choices into the black boxes.

4) To add another choice, select the black + button at the bottom.

5) To shuffle answer choices, select the black shuffle button in the top right corner. If you do not shuffle the options, the correct answer will be the first option for every question.

1) To move answer options by hand, hover your cursor over the pointed end of the answer choices boxes so that the dots appear. Click and hold the dots and move the box up or down to the correct location.

2) To remove an answer choice, select the X that appears when you hover your cursor to the right of the answer choice.

3) Select Save to save and close the question window or 4) select Delete to remove the entire question.

Step 7

The location in the video in which you added the question will be marked with a blue Q at the bottom. Select the Q to reopen the question. Continue playing the video or drag the cursor to the next location where you would like to add a quiz question. Repeat the two previous steps to create additional questions. You have to click on the video (where you want the quiz question to appear) in order for the blue + to appear or hit pause on the video.

Step 8

Once you have added all of the questions, you can edit various options of the quiz. Select Add Questions in the top right corner to open a dropdown menu.

The General option open the options from step 4.

The Experience option allows you to set whether students can view their answers again before submitting the quiz or not. This window also allows you to decide if students can skip questions and come back to them. Both options are checked by default.

The Score option allows you to choose whether students can see their scores or not. This window also allows you to turn the option to include answers on and off.

Show scores and Include Answers are marked by defalt.

The Add Questions option displays the window that appeared when you added questions.

Step 9

Once you have finished editing your quiz, select Preview Quiz in the bottom left corner to view the video quiz as your students will see it.

Select Go to Media to publish the video in order to make the video quiz accessible to students.

To publish the quiz, select the Actions dropdown menu and then select Publish.

Select the Published option and then select the box next to the course in which you want the video quiz. Then select Save.

If you don’t want the Quiz to be a graded assignment you are now done. If you want the quiz to be a graded assignment, follow the steps below.

Step 12

You are now ready to make video quiz an assignment. To do so, select Assignments in the pane on the left and then select +Assignment in the top right corner.

Step 13

Type in a title for the assignment and then scroll down to the Submission Type dropdown menu.

Select the menu and then select External Tool. Then select Find to find your video.

Step 15

Scroll down to the Kaltura Video Quiz option and select it.

Find the video quiz you just created and then select the blue Select button.

Step 17

The URL for the video will appear in the URL text box. Select the blue Select button to close the window.

Step 18

You can now edit the other details for the assignment and then select Save & Publish to make the assignment visible to students or Save to save the assignment without making it visible to students.

*Note: that the original video without the quiz is still in MyMedia.
